What We Do
We support Latino and multilingual families raising young children with suspected or diagnosed developmental delays or disabilities through relationship-based, home-visiting services designed around each family’s unique needs.

Home Visits
Weekly or bi-weekly in-home sessions led by our trained promotoras comunitarias (family mentors) to build trust, set goals, provided information, educate caregivers and support your child’s growth in their natural environment.

Family-Centered Planning
Collaborating with caregivers to create personalized Family Plans that reflect your child’s strengths, your family’s priorities, and your cultural values.

System Navigation & Advocacy
Hands-on guidance to help families access and understand services such as early intervention, school special education, DDCS (DDA) eligibility, and healthcare systems.

Family Support & Connection
Monthly mom’s cafes and biannual family gatherings that bring families together to share experiences, learn, and build supportive relationships.

Community Referrals & Resources
Connections to trusted partners for health, early learning, and social-service resources—including diaper banks, parent education, housing and local family programs.
Why it Matters
At Ayllu Hogar, we believe that families thrive when they are seen, heard, and supported in their own language and culture. We walk alongside you to ensure your child has every opportunity to learn, grow, and belong.

Barriers to Access
Despite the fact that 27.18% of developmentally disabled children in the U.S. are Hispanic or Latino, very few service delivery and intervention approaches exist to meet the needs of Latinx children and their families (Thomas et al).
Of the service delivery and intervention approaches that do exist, almost all are difficult to access for Latinx families due to limited culturally-tailored resources, a lack of culturally-trained professionals, socio-economic status and legal status.

These barriers result in late diagnosis for children with neurological disorders, loss of early intervention opportunities and challenging discrepancies between home, medical and educational settings, delaying developmental learning (Casillas et al. 2017; Liptak et al. 2008; Magaña et al. 2013, 2016).
