Staff and Family Consultation,
Training and Advocacy Services

 Culturally tailored supports for families to best support their children across home, school, therapy and community environments.

*All Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waivers are eligible for SFC:

Basic Plus , Children's Intensive In-home Behavioral Supports (CIIBS), Community Protection   ,  Core, Individual and Family Services (IFS).

Manos Unidas’ Staff and Family Consultation and Training services are culturally tailored for non-native English speaking, refugee, immigrant, black or indigenous families within the disability community. Our goal is to help families best support their children across home, school, therapy and community environments.

Our SFCT services provide consultation and training on school based Individual Education Plan’s (IEP’s)  and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP’s) for home adaptation and implementation to Support school-to-home crossover.


Manos Unidas SFCT services include:

  • Strategies to help families understand home-based or school-based recommendations (IEP Goals, Behavior goals, therapy goals, etc

  • Positive Behavior Support strategies in alignment with school-based Behavior Intervention Plans for challenging behavior and home-based accommodations that are culturally and environmentally relevant.  

  • Special Education Advocacy Support
    We provide individualized guidance for families navigating special education services, including support with IEP and re-evaluation preparation, reviewing Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and understanding goals, objectives, and student progress. Our team helps facilitate effective communication between home and school, ensuring collaboration and clarity throughout the process.

Special Education Consultation and Advocacy

Our Special Education Advocacy services help families navigate the school system with confidence. We offer IEP review and meeting support, assistance with evaluations and re-evaluations, bilingual (Spanish/English) communication between home and school, and coaching for parents. Services include school observations, behavior plan review, and connections to community resources—all available on a sliding-scale fee.

Partnership with Office of Education OMBUDS

  1. MUI partnered with OMBUDS Education of Washington state to develop a video curriculum series “ Rights of Families and children within the Special Education System” in Spanish to help families better navigate, advocate and actively participate with the education of their child.
