As we are an organization targeted at supporting Latinx families, the voices, experiences and wisdom and Latinx people are vital to our mission.
Catalina is a native of Colombia, South America and moved with her family to the Pacific Northwest in 2009. She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington and works as a Family Counselor with ChildStrive, an early intervention support services agency for families of children 0-8 yo, in Everett, WA.
Through her life experience as an immigrant parent of an individual with disabilities, she has developed a passion for working with immigrant families in multiple capacities. She has found the way to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities by being a member of the state board of Washington Developmental Disability Endowment Trust Fund (DDETF). We welcome Catalina as a strategic advisor for the development of Ayllu’s video curriculum, specifically on topics related to advocacy and empowerment for Latinx families with children with disabilities.
